FED: Fraser says missing workers were taken to village

CARE Australia chairman MALCOLM FRASER says Australian authorities suspect two aid workers
missing in Yugoslavia since Wednesday were taken by the army to a village.

Mr FRASER won't name the village, but says CARE hopes to have Australians in there soon to
ascertain the whereabouts of missing CARE workers STEVE PRATT and PETER WALLACE.

Mr FRASER appears to contradict Foreign Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER, who says Australian
authorities have no idea where the two men are.

The former prime minister says the missing Australians encountered the Yugoslavian military
rather than the usual border patrols when they attempted to cross into Croatia on Wednesday.

Mr FRASER's told Sydney radio 2UE he believes the two men are in a jail in the village.
