NSW: Bushfire emergency declared in western NSW

Additional fire crews from across New South Wales are being sent to Cobar, in the state's
west, where a bushfire emergency has been declared.

Rural fire service spokesman JOHN WINTER says 100 fire fighters left Sydney last night
to bolster local crews battling at least 12 grass fires burning 40 kilometres west of
the town.

Mr WINTER says lightning storms yesterday afternoon sparked the fires, adding to a
large blaze already raging in the area.
